Understanding trauma informed therapy
Trauma-informed practice is an approach to health and care interventions which is grounded in the understanding that trauma exposure can impact an individual’s neurological, biological, psychological and social development. (Gov.UK 2024)
Trauma changes you, it affects your nervous system in a fundamental way. It wasn't your fault. The way you feel is real and reasonable. You can grow, heal and move forward, but you can't just 'get over it'.
My approach to trauma informed therapy
I have extensive experience working with both adult and child survivors of trauma, including those who are still experiencing it. Some of this experience is as a therapist, some as a foster carer and some supporting families and children affected by disability.
I also bring my own history, discoveries and healing.
I fully understand that trauma isn't always a single, large event; it can be a series of unsettling, isolating and frightening events, a constant state of unease and uncertainty. My approach is welcoming, unfussy, and focused on your individual needs, providing a safe and supportive environment for your healing.

How I can help
I provide a warm, therapeutic environment where you can explore your experiences without judgment. Our aim is together, to help you understand the impact of trauma on your life and develop coping strategies that empower you to move forward. Whether you're dealing with past traumas or ongoing challenges, I am here to support you every step of the way. Hopefully we can have some fun along the way as well.
